Connecticut Credit Unions Gather in Hartford for Governing Affairs Conference

5.30.2023

Hello Members!

Connecticut credit unions and the Credit Union League of CT joined together on Wednesday May 24th to speak to a multitude of commissioners, representatives, and senators in Hartford regarding the credit union advantage. There are just under 80 credit unions in the state of Connecticut which makes up around 5% of the market share in the state, slightly ahead of the national market place around 4%. Credit unions in the state of Connecticut are here to help individuals and businesses of the instructions' respective field of membership. For Skyline Financial Federal Credit Union, the field of membership is open to persons who live, worship, work (or regularly conduct business in), or attend school in, and businesses and other legal entities located in New Haven County, or Litchfield County, Connecticut.

The call to action in Hartford is to remind the representatives of the credit union advantage. Credit Unions are unique in their way of helping members well beyond the typical way of a commercial financial instruction. For example, a Skyline team member will review a member's payment history with our institution over the life of their membership as a way to help aide the individual in getting the financial assistance they seek. Credit unions are people helping people, and one of Skyline's main goals is to find a way to yes.

Federal and State advocacy is always an important activity for credit unions to help defend our tax status and continue doing the great work that we do.

For the non-members out there, it's time you consider the credit union advantage. Join us today!

Yours, in exchange,
James A. Higgins, MBA, CUDE
