WATERBURY – Monday, October 25, 2021 – James Higgins, President and CEO of Skyline Financial Federal Credit Union, has been named the winner of the Outstanding Credit Union Young Professional Award by the Credit Union League (CULCT) in Connecticut. Mr. Higgins was awarded this distinction based on his outstanding leadership and tireless service to his community, according to CULCT President & CEO Bruce Adams.
Mr. Higgins, who assumed the President/CEO role of Skyline earlier this year, is active in numerous community organizations in Naugatuck, where he resides. He is a member of the town’s Board of Finance, a member of the Portuguese Club of Naugatuck and is current seeking election as a Burgess on city’s Board of Mayor and Burgesses.
“This recognition is a result of having great members at Skyline and being able to work on their behalf to build a better community. Credit unions, at heart, are the original community partners—we are rooted in the businesses and organizations which make up the lifeblood of the cities and towns we serve, and Skyline has a wonderful and diverse membership which makes the Waterbury area so much richer,” Mr. Higgins said. “I thank Bruce Adams and the League for this honor and for their wonderful leadership—together we are truly showing what we refer to as ‘The Credit Union Difference.’”
Bruce Adams said, “James Higgins is a perfect example of the type of young leader who is helping credit unions to thrive throughout Connecticut. The way he embraces the communities he serves, and the seemingly limitless energy he has in volunteering in those communities, showcases the true spirit of credit unions. He is one of our best and brightest, and I am grateful that his efforts will inspire other young professionals in our industry to step forward and grow into strong leaders.”
